I created Lighthouse Behavioral Health Center in 2012. Since then it has grown significantly and now provides over six different mental health services. At Lighthouse I will always aim to maintain an agency that allows individuals to receive mental health treatment that is truly effective in helping them achieve happiness, fulfillment and gain the tools needed to navigate through life’s often challenging journey. I will also always aim to maintain an agency that is ethically and clinically driven with high standards for our team of professionals. Lighthouse is a teaching agency that allows individuals within the mental health profession to work in an atmosphere that promotes personal and professional growth. With this foundation, Lighthouse is an agency with a strong reputation for being a premier mental health agency in the Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield and Tri-Cities area.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has worked in the behavioral healthcare field since 2000. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2005 and Master of Education degree in Counseling in 2007. My experience has been in counseling and case management services in an outpatient and community based setting. My background is in working with children, adolescents, adults and families with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, familial discord, ADHD, anger/aggression, adjustment issues, conflict resolution and personality disorders.
In addition to counseling and case management, I have a wealth of experience developing programs, training others and providing clinical supervision to behavioral healthcare providers. I am committed to providing quality services as a supervisor and counselor.
My professional strengths include empathy, dedication, honesty, flexibility, objectivity and kindness. My treatment methods are individualized. Although my theoretical foundation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I truly believe that people are individuals and treatment should be tailored for each person.
I have received training in areas such as trauma, play therapy, reality therapy, crisis counseling, dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. I plan to continue to pursue my interests in dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, grief/loss, trauma and couples and family counseling.
I believe that we have the power to create a life that we are happy living. As your therapist, I aim to help you gain the tools to assist with improving your overall quality of life. My goal is to help you gain the insight and skills that lead to living a healthier, happier life.
