Clinical Profile & Philosophy

My name is Emily Heinze and I am a Resident in Counseling and certified Art Therapist with experience in outpatient, residential, inpatient, school-based, and community settings. I believe that therapy is a space for self-discovery, growth, resilience, and connection with your authentic self.

My goal as a therapist is to build strong therapeutic alliances with my clients to encourage confidence building, self-actualization, and positive change as they strive to become their best selves. Therapy with me is riddled with humor, a splash of challenge, and acceptance without judgement as I believe folks who look forward to their sessions get the most out of the experience.

As a Certified Art Therapist, I can support navigation of expressing internal thoughts, needs, and feelings that are harder to reach through artistic endeavors and creation. Anyone can participate in Art Therapy, no matter what your skill level! I also incorporate person-centered approaches, narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, and reality focused therapy to encourage insight building, awareness, and change.

I have experience working with all ages to support processing trauma, managing depression and anxiety, managing stress or life transitions, supporting positive behavior change, or any client seeking Art Therapy.

Fun Fact

I like to spend my free time playing fantasy games, TTRPGs, and have two cats!
